Saint Christopher the Great Martyr

He hæfde hundes heafod, ond his loccas wæron lange, ond his eagan scinon swa leohte swa morgensteorra, ond his teþ wæron swa scearpe swa eofores tucxas. He wæs Gode geleafful on his heortan, ac he ne mihte sprecan swa swa mon doþ. Þa bead he God þæt he him sealde monnes gespræc. Þa com sum engel on hwitum gegirelan ond eþode him on þone muþ; þa mihte he siþþan sprecan swa mon.

On the eighteenth and twentieth day of the month, it is the time of suffering for Saint Christopher, that great martyr. Christopher came from a people where men have dog heads, and from a land where men eat themselves. He had the head of a dog, and his locks were long, and his eyes shone as bright as morning stars, and his teeth were sharp as boar tusks. He was faithful to God in his heart, yet he could not speak as man does. Then he prayed to God that he should be granted human speech. Then an angel came in white garments and touched him on the mouth; then he was able to speak like a man thereafter.
