The Foolish Man

"Ic eom a dysig mon, and þæt is soð ungeandwealdlic, þeah swilc hweoglas hweorfende wæron. Forþon, ic ne mæg heora heortan sōðlice ongietan, ac on eorðan ic licge and wriþe. Wā lā! Hū dysig and unnyt dust eom ic!"

I am a foolish man, and that is truly unwise, although such creatures were wandering. Therefore, I cannot truly understand their hearts, but on earth I lie and writhe. Alas! How foolish and useless dust I am!
